Sky Sports understands Blackpool are set to sign James Caton after he impressed on trial.
Caton boosted his chances of a deal at Bloomfield Road with a goal in Blackpool's 2-0 win over Everton on Sunday in Keith Southern's testimonial.
The 18-year-old is available on a free transfer after leaving Bolton earlier this summer.
Derby had expressed an interest in signing Caton with the player linking up with the Rams for pre-season, but a move failed to materialise.
However, Blackpool are ready to offer the winger a two-year deal with the option of a third as they look to secure his signature.
