Joleon Lescott is ready to help Manchester City retain their Premier League crown after a summer of disappointment at the Euros.
Lescott was among a handful of players to emerge with their reputations enhanced, following England's exit from the European Championship.
The 29-year-old insists he is now fully refreshed after his extended summer break and wants to help Roberto Mancini's men preserve their place at the summit of the Premier League.
Lescott played his first 90 minutes of pre-season against Oldham on Tuesday which has whetted the appetite of the former Everton stopper for the nine months ahead.
"I had a little break, I got away with the family after the Euros and had a bit of down time," Lescott told the club's official website.
"It's nice to be back at Carrington and I'm eager to get back in.
"It was a slow start initially - they know not to kill us on the first day!
"But the season comes around pretty quick, so over the next fortnight we'll have to get everything in."
