Sky Sports understands Watford defender David Mirfin is poised to rejoin former club Scunthorpe.
Mirfin, who joined Watford on a free transfer last summer, spent the second half of last season on loan at Glanford Park.
The 27-year-old made 19 appearances for Scunthorpe during his loan spell to help them avoid relegation from League One.
Mirfin made just four appearances for Watford following his arrival at Vicarage Road and he has been deemed surplus to requirements by new Hornets boss Gianfranco Zola.
The central defender is poised to undergo a medical at Glanford Park on Tuesday as he closes in a return to the club.
Mirfin is expected to sign a two-year deal to become Alan Knill's latest new signing of the summer.
