Sky Sports understands Doncaster defender George Friend is undergoing a medical at Middlesbrough ahead of a move to The Riverside.
Boro agreed an undisclosed fee with Doncaster last week and it now seems Friend is poised to seal his switch to Teesside.
A number of other clubs, including Ipswich and Nottingham Forest, are thought to have expressed an interest in Friend, but the versatile defender has opted to move to Boro.
Doncaster were resigned to losing Friend following their relegation from the Championship, with the player impressing at the Keepmoat since arriving from Wolves two years ago.
Boro boss Tony Mowbray has been busy so far in the transfer market and he is hoping to add Friend to his ranks as he looks to build a side capable of challenging for promotion.
