Barcelona youngster Marc Muniesa is facing up to six months on the sidelines after suffering a cruciate ligament injury in the club's pre-season friendly with Hamburg.

The 20-year-old sustained the injury seven minutes into the second half of the match at the Imtech Arena, which Bara won 2-1 thanks to goals from Dani Alves and Gerard Deulofeu.

Tests later confirmed that he had snapped the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

The Catalan club will decide later this week whether the youngster will undergo surgery but confirmed he faces at least six months out.

Muniesa suffered a similar injury in his left knee as a 16-year-old, keeping him out of action for 10 months.
