Stuart McCall has urged Motherwell supporters to sell out Fir Park for their UEFA Champions League qualifier against Panathinaikos.

The SPL outfit are preparing for their first involvement in Europe's premier club competition, and are determined to enjoy the adventure.

They have been handed a tough draw at the third qualifying stage, but will face Greek opponents on home soil in the first leg of their eagerly-anticipated tie and McCall hopes that will prove to be an advantage.

"There is no reason why we can't get this place filled now," McCall said on Fir Park, which holds around 13,700 spectators.

"It would be magic to come out here for our first competitive game this season and see it full.

Deserved

"That would give everyone a lift and I think the players deserve that for their efforts last season.

"I know we are at long odds to win the game but it would be nice to say you were at Fir Park when Motherwell won a Champions League game, if that was to be the case.

"I think we had 17,000 or 18,000 at Hampden a season ago and although I know football is expensive, to have a chance to see Champions League football at Fir Park is a dream for us as management and players and it should be for the supporters.

"I'm sure a full house could be reached."

All of those inside the Motherwell camp are looking forward to gracing the grandest stage in European football, and goalkeeper Darren Randolph claims the players were hoping to draw one of the bigger names.

Excited

"They were one of the teams that we were hoping to get," he said on the Panathinaikos test.

"There was a lot of happy faces and positive talk when we found out.

"It will be tough out there but we get them here first.

"Just to be involved in the Champions League is massive, it's up there with the biggest game of my career so far.

"Everyone is excited and we can't wait to get started."
