Sky Sports understands Bristol City are in pole position to sign former Queens Park Rangers midfielder Akos Buzsaky.
Buzsaky is available on a free transfer after turning down a new deal at Loftus Road earlier this month.
Buzsaky made 21 appearances in the Premier League last season and scored two goals, but fell out of favour after Mark Hughes succeeded Neil Warnock as manager.
A number of clubs have expressed an interest in the Hungary international with the likes of Cardiff and Nottingham Forest credited with an interest in the 30-year-old.
Buzsaky held talks with Bristol City officials earlier this week and he is thought to have been impressed by Derek McInnes
McInnes has made a new attacking midfielder one of his top priorities and he is hopeful of pushing through a deal to bring Buzsaky to Ashton Gate as soon as possible.
