Preston's summer signing Jack King is determined to make the most of his second bite at full-time football.
King, a summer arrival from Woking, has caught the eye during North End's two pre-season friendlies to date, but in recent years the 26-year-old has combined playing at non-league level with a day job as a builder. He had a taste of professional football as teenager while on the books of Swansea as a trainee and King insists there has always been a desire on his part to return to the full-time game. "For the last six or seven years I've worked for the family business. I was playing part-time, so something I'm having to adjust to now is training every day," King told the Lancashire Evening Post. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to step up and I'll hopefully make the most of it. "Over the last couple of years I had offers to go into League football, but I avoided them. I did that because I didn't believe the clubs coming in for me were ambitious enough. But as soon as I heard Preston were interested and I came up to look at the set-up, it didn't take me long to make my mind up. "Now I'm 26 and it was time to make the right decisions on the offers I was getting. I haven't come here for the money - I've come here because Preston want to win things."
