Crystal Palace manager Dougie Freedman has revealed he has had 'many meetings' with Jose Baxter, but says the former Everton striker has offers to consider from other clubs.

Baxter is a free agent after leaving the Toffees earlier in the summer and has been linked with a switch to Selhurst Park.

Freedman has a lot of admiration for the player and admits talks have been held, but recognises that there would be a lot of competition for his signature.

"What's happened with Jose is he's a young guy that I've had many meetings with," said Freedman in This is Croydon.

"He's a fantastic young player, but he's got offers from other clubs."

If Freedman decides to pursue his interest there would appear to be a good chance of a deal being done, as Baxter has previously made it clear that he would welcome the chance to join Palace.

"For people asking I am not a everton player or crystal palace player...... But I'd love to be as they are a great team with great future," he wrote on Twitter on Monday.

Baxter, 20, came through the youth ranks at Goodison Park but never established himself as a regular starter under David Moyes and spent time out on loan at Tranmere last season.
