Futacs makes Foxes switch

He offers variety to our attacking options, says Leicester manager

Marko Futacs: Hungarian has signed a three-year deal with Leicester

Leicester have finalised the signing of Hungarian forward Marko Futacs on a three-year contract.

The 22-year-old spent last season in the Championship with relegated Portsmouth and joins the Foxes following the expiration of his contract at Fratton Park.

The 6ft 5in striker scored five goals for Pompey including the opener in a 1-1 draw at Leicester on New Year's Eve.

Leicester manager Nigel Pearson believes Futacs' physical presence will prove a useful weapon for the club as they attempt to build on last season's ninth-place finish.

Pearson told the club's official website: "Marko has only been in English football for a year but has shown all of the physical and mental attributes to be successful at this level and we are delighted to have added him to the squad.

"He is another player we faced considerable competition to sign, which only serves to highlight how impressively he performed for Portsmouth last season.

"His height naturally offers some variety to our attacking options, but he is a very gifted player whose technical strengths should not be underestimated."
