Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Liam Palmer has signed a loan deal with Tranmere to join the Merseyside club until January 2013.

The 20-year-old, a product of the Owls' academy, burst on to the scene at Hillsborough during the 2010/11 campaign when he made his debut in the League Cup clash against Bury and going on to make 11 first-team appearances that season. Manager Ronnie Moore told the club's official website: "I'm really pleased to be able to bring Liam in on loan and thank Dave Jones and Sheffield Wednesday for helping us out. "I've been speaking to Dave about Liam for some time as he's a young player who has impressed me. "They're keen for him to go out and get games and we get an energetic, hard working box to box midfielder so it's a deal that suits both clubs really well. He can also play at right-back and on the right wing so he'll add a bit of versatility to the squad."
