Sky Sports understands Hearts have handed a trial to former Everton youngster Anton Peterlin.
Peterlin is available on a free transfer after leaving Walsall earlier this summer following one season at the club.
The 25-year-old arrived in England in 2009 after Everton snapped him from Ventura County Fusion following a successful trial at Goodison Park.
The central midfielder failed to make a first-team appearance during his time at Everton and moved to Plymouth in 2010 before linking up with Walsall last summer
Peterlin is set to spend the next week at Tynecastle so that the coaching staff can cast an eye over him as he looks to win a move to the Edinburgh club.
