Sky Sports understands Accrington Stanley are set to seal a deal for Luke Clark after the player turned down the chance to stay at Preston North End.
The 18-year-old came through the youth ranks at Deepdale having joined from Everton.
He twice featured for the first-team last year, but turned down their offer of a professional deal and opted to leave the club.
He has now decided to sign with League Two Accrington and linked up with them for pre-season training on Wednesday.
Stanley have also handed pre-season trials to former Darlington duo Marc Bridge-Wilkinson and Adam Rundle.
