Lazio are continuing discussions with Trabzonspor over a deal to sign striker Burak Yilmaz.
Yilmaz attracted the attention of a number of top European clubs after scoring 33 league goals in 34 appearances last season - a new club record.
German champions Borussia Dortmund and Primera Liga outfit Atletico Madrid are among the clubs to have been linked with the 26-year-old, who has three years left on his contract.
However, it appears Serie A side Lazio are in pole position to land the former Fenerbahce man, though the club are keen to stress that there is still some way to go in negotiations.
"Lazio is doing everything it can with regards to Trabzonspor and the player," Lazio sporting director Igli Tare told the club's official website
"We still need time to complete Yilmaz's negotiation.
"It's a long and delicate negotiation and we must be patient."
