Colchester skipper Kem Izzet has agreed a new deal with the club where he has spent over 10 years.
The 31-year-old midfielder has made over 400 appearances for the U's since joining in 2001.
"It wasn't really ever in doubt that I would sign. I have been happy here for over 10 years and wanted to continue playing here," he told the club's official website.
"Of course, there had to be discussions after the first offer was made because the club wants the best deal they can get and I want the best deal for myself and my family.
"We are very settled in the area, the children are settled in school in the area so it's a weight off my shoulders to have got it all sorted.
"I haven't got to worry about it any more, I can concentrate on pre-season and fighting for a place in the team for the start of the new season."
