Sky Sports understands Watford are closing in on the signing of former Cardiff goalkeeper Tom Heaton.
Heaton is available on a free transfer after seeing out his contract at Cardiff earlier this summer.
A number of clubs have expressed an interest in former Manchester United youngster Heaton, but it appears Watford are set to win the race for his signature.
Watford are in the market for a new goalkeeper after seeing Tomasz Kuszczak, who had a spell on loan at Vicarage Road last season, move to Brighton.
Talks are thought to be at an advanced stage with Heaton with the keeper expected to become the first signing at Watford since the takeover of the Pozzo family.
