Midfielder pens new one-year contract

Chris Millar has penned a new one-year contract with St Johnstone, having previously turned down the offer of fresh terms. The 29-year-old snubbed a two-year deal at the end of the last season and was understood to be considering a switch to Australia. No move was put in place, though, and he has now committed himself to the Saints for another 12 months. Millar is delighted to have put any uncertainty regarding his future to one side and is looking forward to taking in a fifth season at McDiarmid Park. He told the club's official website: "I didn't want to leave, but I did want to assess my options. "The gaffer has been in touch with me regularly over the close season and has made it perfectly clear than I am very much part of his plans, and being with a club that wants you means a lot to a footballer.

Success

"I'm looking forward to it now and hope I can contribute to the team's continued success. "We have Europe to look forward to - it's a tough draw but one we should all look forward to." St Johnstone were drawn against Turkish opposition in the Europa League but will not find out who they will play until the middle of July. Eskisehirspor were the name in the draw, but their participation depends on Besiktas losing their appeal against expulsion at the Court of Arbitration for Sport, with confirmation not due until 10 days before the first leg. If Besiktas overturn their punishment for financial misdemeanours, the Saints will play Bursaspor.
