Germany striker hails strength in depth after goal against Greece

Miroslav Klose has expressed his delight after scoring in the 4-2 victory over Greece to stake his claim for a place in Germany's semi-final side. Joachim Low decided to make changes to his forward line for the last-eight clash in Gdansk, replacing Mario Gomez, Thomas Muller and Lukas Podolski despite their impressive performances in the group stage. Marco Reus and Andre Schurrle added pace to the attack and Klose netted his 64th international goal with a well-taken header to help Germany through to the next round. He is excited by Germany's strength in depth and thrilled to have moved within four of Gerd Muller's all-time scoring record for the country.

Happy

"I was glad that I got that goal," said Klose, who had only made appearances from the bench in Germany's three Group B wins. "I was really happy to be given the chance to start. "Our bench is very, very strong which makes us stand out. "Anyone can come in and play, which is great for us. "We knew that we could impose our game on the Greeks and get a few chances to score. That was just how things worked out."
