Ferguson delighted to secure services of midfielder

Manchester United have completed the signing of Japan midfielder Shinji Kagawa from Borussia Dortmund on a four-year deal. The Red Devils announced earlier this month that they had agreed terms with the German club for Kagawa, and the transfer has now been finalised after he passed a medical on Friday. Sir Alex Ferguson is delighted to have secured the services of the 23-year-old and expects him to enjoy a successful career at Old Trafford. "Shinji is an exciting young midfielder with great skill, vision and a good eye for goal," said Ferguson. "I am delighted he has chosen to come to United. "I believe he will make an impact upon the team very quickly as he is suited to United's style of play. "We are all looking forward to working with him."

Exciting time

Having been ruled out of Olympic duty in London this summer, it is anticipated Kagawa will be part of United's pre-season tour to South Africa and China. And Kagawa is relishing the prospect of linking up with his new team-mates and trying to perform well in the Premier League. "This is a challenge I am really looking forward to," he said. "The Premier League is the best league in the world and Manchester United is such a massive club. "This is a really exciting time for me. I can't wait to meet the team and start playing."
