Everton reportedly keen on out-of contract Olympiakos defender

Olof Mellberg will 'not close any doors' as he ponders his next move after rejecting an initial offer from Olympiakos to stay with the Greek club. The experienced Sweden international joined Olympiakos from Juventus in 2009, having previously spent seven years with Aston Villa. He is out of contract this summer and reports suggest he could be heading back to English football, with Everton thought to be interested in securing his services. A number of other clubs across Europe have been linked with a move for the 34-year-old and Mellberg is keeping an open mind as he mulls over the various options. Olympiakos had been keen to hold on to Mellberg at the end of the season but, after he turned down their offer of a new deal, they have not got back in touch. He said: "We got an offer from Olympiakos before the European Championship, which we rejected. "We haven't received a new offer, but we don't close any doors."
