Michael Laudrup: Looking forward to working in the Premier League with Swansea

Michael Laudrup has admitted he had to do his research on Swansea before agreeing to become their new manager, but he feels they are a perfect match for his style of football.

Laudrup was named as Brendan Rodgers' successor on a two-year deal last week and he is looking forward to the challenge of managing in the Premier League.

He is especially excited about the vision of the club that chairman Huw Jenkins painted for him, with Swansea earning rave reviews for their vibrant approach last season.

"I am very happy to be here. I think the Premier League will be a huge challenge for me but also a great experience," said the Dane as he was officially presented to the media.

"I did a lot of digging into what kind of football Swansea play and the story of the club.

"The philosophy the chairman has talked about goes along with the way I like to play football, and that is the main reason I am here."

Asked how much he knew about the club before accepting the job, Laudrup continued: "I didn't know so much, I have been many years in Southern Europe, living there and working there.

"I have seen a lot of the Premier League but I needed to do some research and the people I spoke to were very positive."

Laudrup admits that he is entering the unknown after taking on his first position in England, and he does not intend to make wholesale changes to the backroom staff at the Liberty Stadium

He said: "It is very different. I don't have the experience of this league so I need people around me to help at the beginning, but it is the manager who makes the final decision."
