Hibernian boss Pat Fenlon wants to sign James McPake following an impressive loan period at Easter Road.

Northern Ireland international could be set for move to SPL

Hibernian boss Pat Fenlon is keen to sign James McPake following a loan period of distinction at Easter Road last term. The 27-year-old Coventry defender made such an impact upon his arrival at the Scottish Premier League club that he was made captain. McPake has just a year to run on his deal with the Sky Blues and there were reports the Edinburgh-based outfit had made a £100,000 offer earlier this month. Fenlon would not confirm or deny if an approach had been made, but he did stress he was scouring the market for players of the quality and character of the defender.

Fabulous

"He was fantastic for me and for the club in the short time he was here," he told Hibernian TV. "I would love to have him back - what he brought to the place is what we're looking for. "While he was here, he was fabulous for us - both on and off the pitch. I think that's important as well. "That's the type of player we're looking for. James fits that bill perfectly and hopefully we can now recruit a few more like him."
