Czech keeper says it will take entire team to stop Portugal star

Petr Cech has warned his team-mates it will take all of them to stop Cristiano Ronaldo scoring when the Czech Republic take on Portugal in the first Euro 2012 quarter-final on Thursday. The former Manchester United man finally announced his arrival in this tournament with a brilliant brace to sink Holland in the last group game. His double saw Portugal safely through to the knockout games and gave the fans a glimpse of the superb form he has shown for Real Madrid where he scored 65 goals in 59 games last season. And Chelsea goalkeeper Cech fears a simple man-to-man marking job will not be enough to prevent the striker dumping them out of the competition.

Dangerous

"I've faced him in many matches and I can use my experience from them, but it is crucial for us to work as a team to succeed," Cech said. "He's a player who works hard to get better and he's got a powerful shot. "He's dangerous because he is able to shoot with both the right and left foot from any position. "With Chelsea, we always carefully prepared for the matches against Manchester United. It's crucial not to give him space because his speed is exceptional."
