Top-flight new-boys could win race for midfielder's signature
Sky Sports understands West Ham are holding a second round of talks with former Wigan midfielder Mohamed Diame.
The sought-after Senegal midfielder is available on a free transfer after his contract at Wigan expired and has attracted reported interest from several Premier League clubs.
Liverpool were thought to be front-runners for his signature, while Aston Villa, QPR and Sunderland have also been linked.
But it appears the Hammers could beat them to the punch, with the top-flight new-boys thought to be in a second round of negotiations with the 24-year-old.
Diame, who joined the Latics from Rayo Vallecano for €3.8million in 2009, notched up 89 appearances during his stint at the DW Stadium, scoring seven goals.
