Olympiakos have opened talks with former Aston Villa defender Carlos Cuellar.
The former Rangers man is a free agent after leaving Villa Park this summer.
The 30-year-old has already held talks with Sunderland, whilst he has been linked with a return to Spain with Osasuna.
However, Greek giants Olympiakos are now keen on securing his signature after learning that Avraam Papadopoulos would be sidelined for a number of months.
Papadopoulos damaged knee ligaments in Greece's opening Euro 2012 draw with Poland and that has meant Olympiakos need to look at their options.
Sporting director Darko Kovacevic is now in talks with Cuellar's representatives.
The Greeks have also yet to decide on Swede Olof Mellberg, as they look at a number of defensive deals.
They have also agreed a deal for Dimitris Siovas and are in talks with former Everton target Kostas Manolas.
