Sky Sports understands League One outfit Tranmere Rovers are lining up a move for Everton youngster James Wallace.
The 20-year-old midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan at Prenton Park after impressing coaching staff.
And now manager Ronnie Moore has seen enough of the player to want to bring him to the Birkenhead club on a permanent basis.
However, the Tranmere hierarchy will now have to negotiate a deal with their Merseyside neighbours if they wish to sign Wallace.
The Fazakerley-born youngster is a product of the Toffees youth system and has previously spent time on loan at Bury, Stockport and Shrewsbury.
He has also represented England at Under-19 and Under-20 level.
