Wales striker happy with new Reds boss

Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy has backed the appointment of Brendan Rodgers as Kenny Dalglish's replacement. Rodgers is set to be unveiled as Liverpool's new manager on Friday morning after a deal was agreed with Swansea to allow the Northern Irishman to take charge at Anfield. Bellamy admits he was sorry to see Dalglish depart, but believes landing the highly-rated Rodgers is a shrewd move by the club. "I am sad to see Kenny go, but I think they have made a very good appointment in Brendan Rodgers, I really do," said Bellamy. "I have got the chance to see him closely because he is only down the road at Swansea and I am at Cardiff so I have got the chance to see him very closely in the last few years.

Proven

"He is very good guy as well, speaks well, knows his football, and he has proven himself." Bellamy admits it will be a huge task for Rodgers, swapping Swansea for Liverpool and trying to guide the Reds back into the top four. "Liverpool is a huge, huge challenge," added Bellamy. "No disrespect to Swansea this is Liverpool football club, it certainly isn't Swansea so it is going to be a big test for him."
