Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has conceded that he would have liked to have seen former manager Rafa Benitez back in charge at Anfield.
Brendan Rodgers is the man taking over from Kenny Dalglish and will be presented on Friday morning.
A host of names had been linked with the job, including former boss Benitez and Reina admits that he would have opted for him.
"For many of my colleagues and me, Rafa Benitez would be the ideal candidate," he is quoted by the Daily Mirror.
"It's that I'm not objective about it, but he is the coach who shaped me most. He is the best."
