Laurent Blanc has hinted that Gael Clichy could play a leading role in France's Euro 2012 campaign, describing his recent form as 'amazing'.
The full-back enjoyed a productive debut season at Manchester City in 2011/12, as he got his hands on the Premier League title.
He made 35 starts for the Blues in all competitions, with a regular run in a successful side bringing out the best in him.
France are hoping that they will benefit from his form and confidence this summer, as they go in search of European Championship glory.
Clichy will be competing with Manchester United's Patrice Evra for a starting berth, but Blanc's comments will offer him hope in his efforts to edge out his Premier League rival.
"Gael Clichy has shown amazing form," said Blanc.
"He has played very well and, having won the Premier League with Manchester City, he is in a very positive frame of mind."
