Roque Santa Cruz has reiterated his desire to stay at Real Betis and is hoping that Manchester City will agree to a deal in the summer.
The Paraguay international has completed a season-long loan at Betis after struggling to make an impact at City since his 2009 move from Blackburn Rovers.
He has scored four goals in just 24 appearances for City and spent the second half of last term back at Blackburn before being moved on again by Roberto Mancini.
The 30-year-old has enjoyed his time in Spain and is now waiting to hold talks with City with the aim of being allowed to rejoin Betis for next season.
"I'm fine here and I want to stay and there will be talks, hopefully in the coming weeks, with my agent," said Santa Cruz at a club sponsorship event.
"It is important to see them (City) face negotiations with a smile on their face. The club has made a major investment in me and is entitled to see something in exchange.
"They do not want to give away players, many players are in a situation like mine.
"But Betis have my word that I will do everything possible to stay, although it depends on City."
