Spurs winger withdraws due to minor injury concern

Tottenham winger Gareth Bale will not feature for Wales in this month's international friendly against Mexico due to a minor injury concern, the Football Association of Wales (FAW) has confirmed. The Spurs ace had originally been named in manager Chris Coleman's 23-man squad for the encounter, which will take place in New Jersey on Sunday 27th May. However, the FAW has confirmed Bale is one of six first-choice squad members to have withdrawn from the trip. The 22-year-old is a contender to feature in Stuart Pearce's Great Britain team at this summer's London Olympics and will be keen to be fit ahead of the tournament. All six of the players who have pulled out of the Wales squad are listed as "injury concerns", with Joe Ledley, Neal Eardley, Darcy Blake, David Vaughan and Lewis Price also withdrawing. Coleman has made five additions to his squad to replace the absentees, including three uncapped players, with Nottingham Forest's Joel Lynch, Swansea's Jazz Richards and Blackburn's Adam Henley yet to feature for their country. Crystal Palace forward Jermaine Easter and Tranmere's Owain Fon Williams have also been added to make up what is now a 22-man squad.
