Ainsworth signs new deal

Veteran accepts player/coach role to stay at Wycombe

Gareth Ainsworth: Wycombe Wanderers midfielder has signed a new one-year contract

Veteran midfielder Gareth Ainsworth has signed a new one-year contract with Wycombe Wanderers to stay as a player/coach.

Ainsworth was one of five players to have been offered a new deal by Wycombe earlier this month following the club's relegation from League One.

He has accepted the terms on offer and has joined Jesse Kewley-Graham, Josh Scowan and Anthony Stewart in pledging to stay with Wycombe.

The 39-year-old initially joined the Chairboys on loan from Queens Park Rangers in late 2009 before making the move permanent in 2010.

Ainsworth is approaching 100 appearances for Gary Waddock's side and he featured 32 times during the past season as Wycombe dropped back into League Two.
