Jordan Henderson and Andy Carroll were delighted to sign off at Anfield in 2011/12 with impressive displays in Liverpool's 4-1 victory over Chelsea.
It has not been an easy season for either of the North East natives on Merseyside, with both struggling to justify sizeable price tags.
They were, however, influential performers in a midweek win over Chelsea and Reds supporters will be looking for more of the same next term.
Henderson netted only his second Premier League goal of the season on Tuesday night, but believes he is making steady progress.
Asked to sum up his debut season at Anfield, he told Sky Sports: "I've enjoyed it. I've learnt a lot since I've been here so hopefully it will give me a lot of confidence going into the next season. Overall I've been happy with it.
"I like to score as many as I can, so it's always nice to score. I need to do it on a more regular basis, so I will just keep working and see if I can do that."
Carroll, who has burst into life over recent weeks, also feels that he has got stronger as the season has gone on and will be looking to take that form with him into 2012/13.
"I've been through a lot and coming out the end of it with a few good performances has been great for me," he said.
Henderson and Carroll are hoping to be leading lights at Liverpool for many years to come and are confident that Kenny Dalglish's side are heading in the right direction.
"I think we have played quite well throughout the season at times and just haven't got the results at times," said Henderson.
"We just need to put the results right and keep playing the way we know we can because we've got some brilliant players here."
