Danish playmaker expected to stick with Ajax

Christian Eriksen's agent believes his client will shun interest from Europe's top clubs this summer in order to continue his development at Ajax. The Denmark international is considered to be one of the hottest properties on the continent, with it expected to be only a matter of time before he leaves Dutch football. The 20-year-old has already shown that he is capable of shining on the biggest stages, turning out 21 times for his country and gracing the UEFA Champions League. The likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and AC Milan have all been strongly linked with a summer swoop for his services.

Timing

Big-money bids are said to be in the offing, but Eriksen's representative expects the highly-rated youngster to remain in Amsterdam for at least one more year. "I don't think the timing is right," Martin Schoot told Sporten.dk. "It is important that he continues to develop his game with Ajax." On the reported interest from AC Milan, Schoot added: "Milan is a very interesting club and would be a big step forward, but I don't think he is ready for a big club like that."
