Shiels delighted that Italian defender is staying

Kilmarnock manager Kenny Shiels has expressed his delight at tying down Manuel Pascali on a new three-year deal. The Italian defender has made over 130 appearances since joining the club in 2008 and agreed terms on a fresh contract before Killie's 2-0 home defeat by St Mirren on Wednesday night. Pascali is currently sidelined after suffering a broken fibula in February and Shiels is pleased that the 30-year-old is staying at Rugby Park. Shiels said: "That's fantastic news for us getting Manny. "He is one of the three quartermasters that we have and we have to get them signed - Garry Hay and James Fowler being the other two. "It's important we get them on board. To help with the development of young players, your senior players are very important." Shiels has yet to sort out his own contract, but admitted his priority is to resolve the future of his players before assessing his situation. He added: "I'm working on that one, but we must get the players tied up and then we can look at that."
