Sky Sports understands Leeds are set to unveil Portsmouth defender Jason Pearce as their first signing on Friday.
As revealed by skysports.com last month, Leeds boss Neil Warnock had lined up a deal to bring in Pearce to shore up the side's leaky defence at Elland Road.
Warnock has confirmed he expects to announce his first summer arrival on Friday and Pearce is widely thought to be the man in question.
"I'm hoping to make my first signing [on Friday]. I'm looking forward to notching one hopefully and then moving on to my next," said Warnock.
"I'm into talks with quite a number at the minute and it's been a busy 48 hours.
"He's the type of player I look for when I go into a club. At Championship level there's a certain type of lad I'm looking at and he fits everything that I'm looking for, hunger, ability, there's a lot of plusses I look for."
