Bayern Munich have confirmed that veteran defender Daniel van Buyten has signed a new contract to stay at the club next season.
Van Buyten has made over 130 appearances for Bayern since joining the club six years ago from Hamburg, but has missed a large part of this season through injury.
The 34-year-old has not featured since January due to a broken toe, but is on the road to recovery and should be fit before the end of the season.
"We are pleased that Daniel will still be playing for Bayern Munich next season," said Bayern's director of sport Christian Nerlinger on his club's official website.
"We know what we get with him. His qualities and experience will remain an important component of our squad in future."
The former Manchester City defender has won the league and cup double twice during his six years with Bayern and is set to take part in his second UEFA Champions League final against Chelsea on 19th May.
With Holger Badstuber suspended for the game, Van Buyten is the likely candidate to come into the starting line-up against Chelsea if he proves his fitness.
