Shay Given is looking for the Aston Villa squad to stick together through a tough time and ensure that the club steers clear of relegation trouble.
Villa have been dragged into a basement battle on the back of an eight-match winless run.
Only rock-bottom Wolves have won fewer games than Alex McLeish's side this season, while they have been held on more occasions than any other Premier League team.
All of that adds up to a standing just three points above the drop zone with two fixtures remaining.
The first of those games sees them play host to high-flying Tottenham on Sunday, before they bring the curtain down on the 2011/12 campaign at surprise package Norwich.
Given is confident Villa can preserve their top flight status, but concedes that the players must look to restore some lost pride before the season comes to a close.
"Whatever (the fans') thoughts, the most important thing is Villa staying in the Premier League," the Republic of Ireland international told the Express and Star.
"We have a big game on Sunday and it is important that we all stick together.
"It is not about the manager or the players, it is about Villa as a football club. The history we have to protect and the reputation."
