Chris Millar believes the chance to play in Europe could convince St Johnstone's out-of-contract players to stay on at McDiarmid Park.
The 29-year-old midfielder has helped steer Saints from the First Division to the verge of Europa League qualification after joining from Morton in 2008.
Manager Steve Lomas is desperate to retain the services of the former Celtic trainee, with negotiations ongoing.
And Millar admits it would be difficult to walk away from the prospect of European football with Saints next season.
"I have had four great seasons here and I would love to stay," he told the Daily Record.
"We will sit down again at the end of the season and see where we go from there.
"European football would definitely be a carrot to keep me here. It is one of those things on your checklist to do in the game.
"Like everyone else I want to play at as high a level as I can. I think it would be a fantastic experience to play in European competition."
