Mark Hughes has confirmed Adel Taarabt will be in the QPR squad for the trip to Manchester United, despite pictures emerging of him smoking.

The midfielder was seen holding a light shisha pipe along with Morocco international team-mate Marouane Chamakh of Arsenal.

But Hughes says that whilst he does not encourage it, the 22-year-old will not be punished by the club.

"I saw the picture," said the QPR manager.

"If you're a professional athlete, you shouldn't really smoke but a lot of players do.

"I think what Adel was doing with his friends was a social activity and that is how he relaxes.

"As with everything in life, if it is done in moderation then it shouldn't have an impact on you.

"But he is a professional athlete so, from my point of view, I wouldn't encourage it."
