Schalke striker yet to agree new deal

Schalke general manager Horst Heldt has confirmed the club have yet to agree a new deal with veteran striker Raul. The former Spain international has proved to be a shrewd signing by the Bundesliga club, bagging 33 goals in 82 appearances since moving from Real Madrid in the summer of 2010. The 34-year-old's contract at the Veltins-Arena expires at the end of the season but several rounds of talks between the player's representatives and club officials have failed to reach an agreement. Heldt confirmed that further talks with Raul's agent Gines Carvajal took place last week that revealed the striker has yet to make a decision over his future. "There is still no inclination, there is still no decision," Heldt told Kicker. "For Raul it is a fundamental decision. He has to talk with his family about whether it makes sense or not."
