Wigan goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi has pledged to cheer Oman on from the stands in their Olympic play-off against Senegal at Coventry's Ricoh Arena on 23rd April.

Paul le Guen's team needed a victory over Uzbekistan to edge through and goals from skipper Hussain Al Hadhri and Raed Ibrahim Saleh were enough to withstand a late rally.

"I'm so happy because the Oman vs Senegal game will be in Coventry," Al Habsi wrote on Twitter.

"I'll be the first one in the stands supporting the lads!"

Qualifiers

The play-off will determine one of the 16 berths for the men's tournament, with the identities of 13 of the qualifiers already known.

The precise make-up of the Great Britain team, which will be managed by Stuart Pearce, remains in doubt due to the preference of the Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland associations for their players not to take part.

Brazil, Uruguay and Spain are among those who have made it through, although holders Argentina, Australia and the United States, plus European heavyweights Germany, France and Italy, have all missed out.

The Olympic tournament will be contested by squads of Under-23 players, with each competing nation allowed to select three over-age players.
