Injury blow for Thompson

Scunthorpe striker Garry Thompson could miss the rest of the season after scans revealed the full extent of his groin injury.

Thompson, who sustained the injury in the recent home draw with Charlton, will be sidelined for the rest of the month and well into April. Manager Alan Knill told the club's official website: "He's got a tear in the groin area and we've been told it might be four to six weeks. "We're very disappointed about that because he was in quite good form, but these things happen." Knill added that striker Connor Jennings, sidelined for the last two months with a broken metatarsal, has returned to light training sooner than expected.
