Bolton Wanderers forward Jack Sampson has revealed he is enjoying life at Southend following the club's decision to extend his loan stay by a further month.
Southend currently lie in fourth position in League Two, challenging for automatic promotion and all but guaranteed a place in this year's play-offs.
Sampson has featured heavily since his arrival at Roots Hall in January, making eight appearances, including five starts.
He told the club's official website: "I'm enjoying playing matches because that is what every player wants, especially in a team that are doing well at the moment.
"There is a real positive mentality in the squad. I'm enjoying being here and that's why I'm happy to stay for longer. I'm happy to be given the chance to play competitive league football."
Southend are currently in a rich vein of form and Sampson is happy with the part he has played.
He added: "We are unbeaten in our last three matches and I have started in all of them. I'm still looking for my first goal but I'm sure that isn't far away.
"A finish in the top three has to be the aim and everyone is confident that it can be achieved in these last couple of months of the season."
