Wolves boss rubbishes captain's exit rumours

Roger Johnson: Wolves captain has not asked for a loan move

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Terry Connor says that captain Roger Johnson is not going to leave the club anytime soon.

Johnson was disciplined by Wolves after turning up for training in an unacceptable condition nine days ago but remains the club's skipper.

The 28-year-old has since not featured for Wolves and there have been some murmurs that he had requested for a loan move to a non-Premier League club before the deadline later this month.

However, Connor has dismissed the idea that Johnson had asked for a transfer.

"He's not spoken to me about it and he hasn't spoken to Jez (Moxey, chief executive) about it, so he hasn't asked," he is quoted as saying in The Express & Star.

"I'm happy to put that one to bed."
