Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay is hoping to convince goalkeeper Tom Heaton to sign a new contract with the Championship club.
Heaton's current deal expires at the end of the season and there has been speculation the 25-year-old will move on in search of regular first-team football.
Though Heaton was Cardiff's Carling Cup keeper, and played in the final defeat by Liverpool last month, he has made just two appearances in the Championship this season.
David Marshall is Mackay's first choice and the Bluebirds boss is happy to have two quality keepers at his disposal.
"Tom is another ultra-professional and one who is very much a Championship goalkeeper," said Mackay. "To have the two of them pushing each other has helped us.
"We will be talking to Tom's representatives and I would love him to stay.
"I do understand the amount of football he would like to play, but that is the conversation I will be having with him."
