Fulham boss Martin Jol felt his side deserved a point after watching Aston Villa snatch an injury-time winner at Villa Park on Saturday.
The match looked to be heading for a drab goalless draw before Villa substitute Andreas Weimann snatched all three points with a close range finish two minutes into stoppage-time.
It brought Fulham's fine run of form to an abrupt halt after they had gone into the game on the back of three successive wins.
Jol was understandably disappointed after the match, especially as he felt his side had recovered from a poor first-half performance.
"It is very disappointing to lose in the final minute," the Dutchman told
Sky Sports.
"We wanted to win to be fair, because we had three wins on the trot so we wanted the fourth win.
"When you saw the start, they were aggressive and they pressed us high, so that was a problem for us in the first half.
Midfield
"We changed the style of play and went back with three midfielders and Andy Johnson on the left so we could play our way out of midfield.
"The second half was much better but we had to score a goal, if not then you have to get away with the draw.
"If you play away against Villa it is never easy, if you score you make it easier for yourself but in the end I thought 0-0 would have been a good result."
Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer will have been disappointed to have spilled Gary Gardner's late drive into the path of a grateful Weimann.
Jol refused to blame the veteran keeper, but admits it serves as a lesson to his players.
"It is always the same, one or two mistakes can cost you, even in the final minute and that's exactly what happened," added Jol.
"We attacked the ball on the left, we shouldn't have done that, we should have then had two players in the centre to block the ball but we only had one."
