Danny Wilson does not accept playmaker Kevin McDonald's injury is the main reason behind Sheffield United's recent wobbles.
Midfielder McDonald has missed the last four games due to a hamstring injury and is not yet back in full training, while the Blades have seen their cushion over third-placed rivals Sheffield Wednesday cut to a single point after losing three of those matches.
"I wouldn't say it's down to that, if I'm honest," Wilson said. "If you look at the football we played against Oldham in particular, there was some fantastic stuff and that wasn't down to whether Kevin was there or not.
"But you have to say he is a specialist player and he was on top of his game at that time. I couldn't have seen him being out of the side when he was playing as well as he was, so that's an indication of how committed the two central midfield players were.
"It's a concern because he's another player we can't use. He's a specialist in his area and what he does, that's for sure, so we haven't got that ability to call on this moment in time.
"He's doing very light, straight line jogging at the moment and work on the bike, cardio work rather than work on the hamstring and that's the important one, when he gets the nod to do that we'll see what shape he's in."
