Alberto Aquilani could make an early comeback from injury for AC Milan against Arsenal, while Antonio Cassano and Gennaro Gattuso are also making good progress in their efforts to return to the side.
On-loan midfielder Aquilani, who will trigger a permanent move from Liverpool if he makes five more appearances this season, has recently been sidelined with a muscle problem.
He was expected to be out for another week or two but joined in training on Sunday as the Milan squad were put through a gentle workout after Saturday's victory over Palermo.
Aquilani could now be in contention to play some part at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday, when Milan will be looking to protect a 4-0 lead to move through to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
Also present at Sunday's session was striker Cassano, who is continuing to step up his rehabilitation after heart surgery even if a return to first-team action is not imminent.
Almost normal life
One man itching to get back on the pitch is Gennaro Gattuso, following six months out with a serious eye problem.
The midfielder is delighted with how quickly he has returned to full fitness after only recently joining in full training.
He said: "I've returned to an almost normal life as I can now watch television and drive my car again. I only use glasses to shade myself from the sun.
"I was never ashamed of what happened to me and see no reason to be. This year everything has happened to both me and Milan, but we are still here."
