First Ireland call-up for Pompey shot-stopper

Sky Sports understands Portsmouth goalkeeper Stephen Henderson has earned his first international call-up ahead of the Republic of Ireland's friendly against Czech Republic. The 23-year-old has impressed in his first full season in the Championship with the South Coast club and replaces injured Sunderland shot-stopper Keiren Westwood in the squad. Westwood has returned to the Premier League side following a wrist problem, giving the former Bristol City man the chance to earn his first cap for his country. Manager Giovanni Trapattoni has hinted that he will use the match to assess the fringe members of his squad, with little over three months until Euro 2012 begins. Henderson will be keen to catch the eye if selected in Wednesday night's Aviva Stadium clash, with competition for a place on the plane to Ukraine and Poland gathering pace.
